Early last week I mentioned that the Cubs could be looking at Rangers hitting coach Rudy to fill the same position for the Cubs. Later that day it came out that Jaramillo wouldn't be returning to the Rangers and now it looks like he will join the Cubs for next season.
Jaramillo is regarded by many as the best hitting coach in the game, so the fact that the Cubs are potentially adding him is a good thing. Don't expect him to be some sort of miracle worker, he won't change a thing for guys like Lee or Aramis. What it will do is potentially help guys like Geovany Soto, Ryan Theriot, and possibly even Mike Fontenot (if he's back).
Will there be a noticeable difference in our hitters next season with a new hitting coach in charge? No, just like nothing changed when Gerald Perry was fired. Still it never hurts to have somebody considered to be the "best in the business" on your side rather than working for another team.
Posting will be slow this week, all three of us have mid-terms. After that though we will be back to posting a couple of times a day. Until then enjoy the playoffs.
