You know what every team in a financial jam is doing this offseason? Signing middle relievers to multi-year deals worth $7.5 million. What, you mean only the Cubs are doing that? Well it's true Bruce Levine is reporting that the Cubs expect to have the two-year deal done tomorrow, knocking off the first item on the Jim Hendry to do list (Trading Milton Bradley being the next thing I'm sure).
Really this isn't that major a move, Grabow is a guy. He gets righties and lefties out at about the same rate. He will be the left handed set-up guy. The good news about this is that we won't be hearing about these negotiations anymore. It also seems like the Cubs were able to avoid a third year on the deal something Grabow was reportedly holding out for earlier. Bob Howry and Scott Eyre can show you how a third year for a relief pitcher works out.
Now onto more important things, like months of Curtis Granderson rumors and the media freaking out about Milton Bradley not being traded yet.
We get this update from @ajwalsh08 on twitter. Grabow in 20 IP against lefties last year had 18 hits and 10 walks. Not exactly a LOOGY.
