About TCB
Talking Chicago Baseball was founded in February 2009 as a way for the authors to whine about the Cubs and White Sox. Now it is a top destination for all the latest Cubs and White Sox news and analysis. We have all the current news for both teams in Chicago and proudly do so with as much bias as possible.

Major League Baseball unveiled it's annual Gold Glove awards today, and for the first time in 11 years, a White Sox player has been given this award. And Buehrle is the first pitcher the Sox have seen win the Gold Glove since Jim Kaat in 1975, and just the second pitcher ever in Sox history to win the award.
Buehrle has always been a star when it comes to defending his position. Whether it's picking off runners, holding on base stealers, or fielding his position on bunts or plays back at him, Buehrle is always one of the most sure handed in the league.
But one thing I think was key in this award was the fact that he works so quickly. Buehrle can not only field his own position, but he makes the rest of the guys around him better defensively too. It keeps his catcher on his game, it keeps the fielders active, and it keeps the umpire ready. No one can debate that working quickly has benefits in this league, but finally he's being recognized nationally for it.
Congratulations Marcus, you deserve this one.
